Chapter Four - 2012 Stats - Average Worship Attendance in Relationship to Membership, Professions of Faith, and Apportionment Giving

The last chapter of Stories from the Spreadsheet looked at groupings based on membership. This issue looks at groupings  based on average worship attendance. These numbers are based on churches that report at least five members and an average worship attendance of at least one.

A few interesting things to note are:
As a group churches with an average worship attendance of
    -  1 to 50 decreased in worship attendance by 3.06%, 
    -  51 to 200 decreased in worship attendance by .92% 
    -  201 to 900 increased in worship attendance by .52%
    -  901 or greater decreased in worship attendance by .44%

- 76% of  congregations have an average worship attendance of 100 or less
- 34% of United Methodists are members of a congregation with an average attendance of 100 or less

- 18% of congregations have an average worship attendance of 101  to 300 
- 33% of United Methodists are members of a congregation with an ave. attendance of 101 to 300

- 5% of congregations have an average worship attendance of over 300
- 34% of United Methodists are members of a congregation with and average attendance of over 300

- Churches with an average worship attendance of between 701 and 800 showed the largest percentage increase in worship attendance, the highest participation ratio, and the second highest apportionment payment percentage.
